Abstract:

Posaconazole is a fluorinated triazole antifungal agent indicated for prophylaxis against Aspergillus and Candida infections in high risk immunocompromised patients. It is proven to be effective in the prevention of invasive fungal infections in patients undergoing allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), and in patients with graft versus host disease (GVHD) or prolonged neutropenia. Its use is strongly recommended by numerous international guidelines [1,2]. The oral absorption of posaconazole is most optimal with a high fat meal and reduced with gastric acid suppression [3,4].
